The Voice of Business
The Chamber is the voice of business in the Boerne area, speaking on behalf of its many members which employ thousands of people. The Chamber establishes coalitions with other chambers and business organizations. The Chamber focuses on advancing the cause of responsible and progressive economic development in the community and throughout the area.

The Chamber is financed through its members' contributions, and non-dues income programs. The Chamber's staff members work with an active volunteer corps each year whose contributions of time, energy, and ideas contribute to make the Chamber one of the most effective business organizations in the area.

An Enlightened Business Leadership
The Chamber represents an enlightened business leadership which recognizes that the best interest of the business community is the same as the long-term best interests of the community-at-large. As a result, the Chamber strives to support initiatives which lead to a prosperous and quality future for the area.

Not a Government Agency
The Chamber of Commerce is not part of city or county government, although we work closely with these officials in economic development and other areas to improve the business environment and quality of life in the community.  Read Chamber Bylaws.

Retention and Expansion Leaders
The Chamber is the initial point of contact for the community's efforts in retention and expansion of existing businesses. The Chamber of Commerce works with existing businesses to remove obstacles of growth.

Patrick joined the Board in 2014 and is the 2016 Chairman of the Board.  He is a partner with Leger Ketchum & Cohoon, PLLC. His legal practice focuses on business litigation and transactions; primarily in energy, construction and real estate.  Patrick devotes his free time to his family, Curry Creek Baptist Church and pro bono and related bar efforts.

Baron Houser is the Principal and Founder of StoneHouse Builders LLC, a residential home building firm. With over 20 years of residential building and community development experience, Mr. Houser has had the good fortune of working with some of the largest residential construction companies in the world. He joined the Chamber’s Board of Directors in 2015 and also is a member and President of The Centurions of Kendall County.

Susan Allen, Treasurer

Susan Allen is the new Market President at Jefferson Bank in Boerne and has been an active member of the Boerne community since moving here in 1983.  She is a former chair of the Boerne Chamber of Commerce and is the Board’s current Treasurer. Susan served as a Trustee on the Boerne ISD Board from 2012 to 2015. She also is a volunteer leader for the Kronkosky Place, which serves the community’s senior citizens.  Allen and her husband Pat have two grown children who attended Boerne schools.

Bill Bird

We are pleased to welcome Bill Bird, former owner of Mercedes Benz of Boerne, back on our board.  A true entrepreneur at heart, Bill recently purchased three historical buildings in Boerne and is currently in the process of lovingly restoring them and preparing them to be first class retail, lodging and restaurant establishments. Bill is a favorite Leadership Boerne speaker and is well known for his presentations on how businesses can provide exemplary customer service.

Heather Dickens

Heather Dickens offers over ten years of experience with HCM's remarkable health care to Boerne residents. She brings an eleven year background in public education to the role of business development, which translates well as we learn more from HCM medical experts about how to create healthy in our own lives. A mother of three and bonus mom to one, Heather lives with her husband Edwin and their six-year-old son in Boerne's backyard town of Fredericksburg.

Jacques DuBose

A native Texan and business consultant with a Masters of Business Administration specializing in public administration, Jacques DuBose served a career in the U.S. Navy. He also served three terms as a Councilman for the City of Boerne.  He represents the American Red Cross Hill Country Chapter and is also the President of Marketing with Areva Travel. Jacques joined the Chamber’s Board of Directors in 2013.

At the end of the day, it's the hard-working Chamber staff who keep the ball rolling. Our goal is to make a positive experience out of every encounter you have with our great Chamber. With over 25 years of combined experience, our staff of 6 full time employees, we strive continually to provide professional services to all Chamber members. Mary Sue was a longtime resident of Lubbock & attended Texas Tech where she was a business major. She and her family moved to San Antonio in 1989 & Boerne in 2006. She has been married to her husband John for 30 years. They have three beautiful daughters. Mary Sue joined the Chamber Staff in 2009.

Statement: The Business Advisory Council is committed to strengthen and support businesses in the community by promoting strong strategic relationships, leadership development and education.

"Last year I served on the Business Advisory Council's Scholarship Committee. Participation on that committee was so satisfying because we were potentially underwriting a portion of a local graduate's higher education. We know we are making a solid contribution to the Chamber's accomplishments and through the Chamber, we're impacting our own success." Strategies/Initiatives:  The Business Advisory Council is comprised of six committees, each with its own strategies and initiatives.

  • The Business Education Committee partners with BISD on projects that include career and college preparations and awareness.  It also promotes the Chamber's on-site business counseling services, offered through UTSA Small Business Development Center.
  • The Marketing Committee works with small businesses teaching different affordable, effective and easy to implement marketing strategies, solutions and tools includes supporting the Save Local Now program.
  • The Non-Profit Committee supports the unique interests of our non-profit member community including the development of an economic impact study.
  • The Retail Committee
  • The Scholarship Committee manages the logistics of the scholarship application and its processes, the review and selection of the annual recipients, and the presentation and promotion of the scholarship monies.
  • The Technology Committee brings together members to discuss technology issues such as privacy, security, software and hardware and is responsible for offering quarterly technology workshops.

The Chamber serves an advocate for business as outlined in the Chamber's Mission Statement.

The Government Affairs Council was established in 2005 and is charged with three primary tasks:

1. Identify areas where more involvement in state and federal government could have a positive impact on Boerne.
2. Disseminate information on local, state, and federal government initiatives, legislation, and programs to the local business community.
3. Make the voice of local business heard, particularly by local City and County government leaders.

Leadership Boerne is a community Leadership program aimed at increasing the leadership pool for the present and future of the Boerne area.

Scheduled Monthly Meetings: The Leadership Boerne Council meets on the 1st Monday of every month in the Boerne Chamber of Commerce conference room.

Leadership Boerne is a fun and demanding series of classes spanning the nine-month traditional school year.  Acceptance into this popular nine-month leadership development program is limited, and all selected participants must be prepared to attend all nine full-day sessions.

Participants in Leadership Boerne will benefit from new learning opportunities in an atmosphere that stimulates class participation and teamwork.  Opportunities are provided to allow significant exposure to issues facing Boerne, surrounding communities, and the state -- now and in the future.  The program encourages participants to become part of an effective and creative leadership network.

The program consists of a one-day session each month, September through May, and culminates with graduation.  Sessions are normally held all day, the second Wednesday of each month, and include lunch underwritten by a contributing sponsor(s).  Topics are diverse, and generally relate to issues faced by our communities.

The Leadership Boerne program is sponsored by the Greater Boerne Chamber of Commerce.  Developed in 1998, the program strives to equip new and experienced leaders alike with tools that will increase awareness of issues facing our great community.
